Si bien nuestra cultura el arte occidental se desintegró en la abstracción y la pintura arrojada sobre lienzos sin contenido, los rusos y los chinos continuaron el estudio y la práctica de la pintura clásica. Con la disminución de las tensiones entre China y Occidente, muchos de los chinos, formados en el estilo clásico practicado por los rusos, emigró a los Estados Unidos y aportaron su experiencia a largo perdido a América.

Zhaoming Wu es uno de esos artistas, cuyos conocimientos y talentos se funden en un camino complicado de los Maestros del Siglo XIX hasta nuestros días, hoy en día. En la actualidad es uno de los miembros de la facultad más valioso de la Academia de San Francisco de Arte, y encarga a artistas y mentores en el programa de posgrado en la pintura y el dibujo representativo.
